Privacy
Pocket Fishing collects nothing. It has no account, no server, no analytics and no tracking. Your location is never sent to us; only Apple Maps and Apple Weather use it, to find your waters and read the weather.
Data not collected
Your location
The game asks for your approximate location, only while you're playing, for three things: naming the real lakes and rivers near you, picking the fish that really live in your part of the world, and matching the real weather there. Location is required to play: without it the game can't know which waters are near you, so there is no way to pick a place by hand. Approximate location is enough.
Your location is used on your phone and stored only in the app's own storage. We never receive it. The phone uses it for two lookups that Apple runs as part of iOS:
- Apple Maps (MapKit) searches for named lakes, reservoirs, ponds and rivers around you.
- Apple Weather (WeatherKit) reads the weather at the water you're fishing.
Those requests go from your phone to Apple under Apple's own privacy policy. They are not linked to you by us, and nothing about them comes to Forgelight Studio.
What stays on your phone
Your journal, catches, coins, cooler, gear, the place and waters you fish, the last weather reading and your settings live in the app's own storage on your phone. A copy of that save is kept in your own iCloud (Apple's key-value storage, under your Apple account and Apple's privacy policy) so it comes back if you delete the game or move to a new phone. We never see it. If iCloud is off for the game, the save stays on the phone only.
What the app never does
- It asks for no name, email, contacts, photos or anything else about you.
- It contains no analytics, crash reporting or tracking of any kind, from us or anyone else.
- It has no server and no account. We can't see who plays, where, or when.
Purchases
The Angler's License is bought through Apple. Apple handles the payment and tells the app only whether your Apple ID owns it, so it can unlock it and restore it. We never see your name, card or Apple ID.
Bite alerts
Bite alerts are off until you turn them on. When they're on, the phone works out from the weather forecast when the fish should be biting and schedules a notification on the phone itself. Nothing is sent to your phone from anywhere. Turn them off in the game's Settings or your iPhone's Settings at any time.
Children
Pocket Fishing is made for everyone and collects nothing from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this ever changes, this page will say so before the app does, with the date at the bottom.
